Featuring Bruce Lish & Friends
“From Jerry to jazz, funk, and soul – with plenty of side trips”
Inspired by the rich, diverse musical heritage in the Peak to Peak region, KC36 Orange Sunshine Band presents unique interpretations of classic music spanning generations, focusing on legendary rock and jazz artists such as Jerry Garcia and Miles Davis. Other legends in our catalog include James Brown, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Mothers of Invention, Rahsaan, Wayne Shorter, and others.
Our exceptional keyboards player also contributes funky, soulful original tunes.
‘KC36’ is strong on collaboration, improvisation and musical exploration, mixing tight, inspired playing and ample vocals. Our show is eclectic and entertaining!
Bruce Lish on sax
Bruce finally admits that he’s a bit of a local legend around the Nederland/Peak to Peak area, having appeared with many local-and-beyond musicians, including Smooth Money Gesture, River Spell, the Ben Sproul Band, the Vince Herman Band, the High Hawks, Stellar Jays, the Piney Tops, Shanti Groove, the Larry Keel Experience, Tenth Mountain Division, and many, many more friends. Lish has appeared at many venues and several festivals, including the Caribou Room, Howlin’ Wind Brewing & Blending, Knotted Root Brewing, Very Nice Brewing, the Jamestown Mercantile, the Mountain Sun, the Boulder Theater, the Fox Theatre, Cervantes, Frozen Dead Guy Days, NedFest, the Northwest String Summit, and others.
Bruce’s KC36 bandmates have comparable resumes, and all members have toured outside of Colorado. The connection between these guys and LOS is well worth acknowledging and exploring…
Doug Diminico – electric guitar & vocals
Doug, aka. NUG, Diminico is well known as the rocking and shredding lead guitar and vocals of legendary, Nederland based, nationally touring Smooth Money Gesture. KC36 is the perfect extension for NUG!
Dave Pullins – keyboards & vocals
Coach Dave is highly proficient and experienced as both a mandolin player (NoGo Gillbillies) and as a keyboardist. His jazz, soul, funky rock, and exploratory approach fits KC36 like a glove. Coach’s original songs are just great!
John Heiland – electric bass & vocals
At last accounting, Johnny Heiland possesses approximately 14,392 special talents, including holding down the low end on bass, recording, and much, much more. A dedicated son, a force to be reckoned with, and a man held in high regard in the KC36 gang! JH’s lengthy resume includes Shanti Groove, Funky Tonk Heroes, Aoxomoxoa/Seeing Stars, Sugarloaf String Band, Fat Rabbit…
Larry Novissimo – drums
LH Novissimo, on drums, is the motor that powers KC36’s tight songs, extended jams, and outward bound explorations. Accompanying Johnny Heiland for many years, his energy is seemingly endless. And yes, LH is the Pittsburg Eating Machine!
A Unique, Entertaining Musical Journey!
With Lish on sax, Diminico on guitar, Pullins on keys, Heiland on bass, and Novissimo holding down the drum chair, KC36 is all about having a good time and high level jamming. Their evolving sound has been compared to Legion of Mary, JGB, Traffic, and the Coltrane Quartet, among others. Think “roots of the Grateful Dead” and more…“If Jerry Garcia and John Coltrane had a baby…”
With a unique, entertaining sound, KC36 Orange Sunshine Band is a welcome addition to the music scene up in the hills and around the Boulder-Denver area!
